We need 1000 people to carry half a kilometre of symbolic red fabric through the city centre!
This event, in collaboration with Bournemouth’s Palestine Solidarity Movement, is a very special one: the RED LINE FOR PALESTINE will be appearing in the city. This is a 500-metre length of 2-metre wide red fabric band, which will be carried by 1000 supporters through the streets, representing our demand for an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
It was first used to surround the White House in Washington DC, and was recently carried through Bournemouth, London and Bristol. Now it’s our turn to host it!
In March, Joe Biden declared an invasion of Rafah was “a red line”. Israel paid no heed and have faced zero accountability for their genocidal actions. Only the sustained, mass global outrage of ordinary people has forced politicians to some kind of response (see the UK government’s late and woefully inadequate partial ban on arms sales).
The “Red Line” serves as a reminder of the boundaries that should never have been crossed. These boundaries are defined by the sanctity of human rights, the horrors of genocide, and the atrocities inflicted upon Gaza and Palestine.
Now, we the people, have become the Red Line.
