Plans for the coming weekend 21/22 October
(including travel arrangements to London on Saturday)
On Tuesday, Al-Ahli hospital in the Gaza Strip was bombed, killing over 500 sick and injured Palestinians, doctors, nurses and refugees sheltering from apartheid Israel’s ongoing bombardment. Israel’s war on Gaza has now left over 3,500 Palestinians dead, and over 13,000 injured.
You will have seen that Israel and the USA claim this atrocity was self-inflicted. As Jonathan Cook has said, ‘It’s not just unlikely that a Palestinian rocket hit the Gaza hospital. It’s impossible. The media know this, they just don’t dare say it.’
Amid this horrific loss of life, the UK government and opposition are failing to demand a ceasefire to stop the bloodshed, uphold international law and protect Palestinian lives, or even to call out Israel for its war crimes.
A mass mobilisation has been called for London on Saturday Oct 21. We’re urging all our members and supporters to join this march if they possibly can. Details below, including travel arrangements from Brighton.
The following day, Sunday Oct 22, we will have a vigil at the Peace Statue on the seafront at 2pm. Details below.
London march Saturday 21 October (including travel arrangements from Brighton)
National March for Palestine: Stop the War on Gaza
Assemble Marble Arch W1H 7EJ at 12 noon – March to Downing Street
Organised by: Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Stop the War Coalition, Muslim Association of Britain, Palestinian Forum in Britain, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
We’re urging all our members and supporters to join this march if they possibly can. 150,000 marched in London last Saturday. It’s essential that the numbers this coming Saturday exceed this significantly.
Travel from Brighton
Meet at Brighton Station 10am, to catch the 10.13am train from Brighton. Due to works on the line on Saturday, we’ll need to change at Burgess Hill, arriving London Victoria 11.32. We suggest getting a 2 or 36 bus from Victoria (Wilton St stop) to Marble Arch.
Vigil for Gaza
Sunday 22 Oct at 2pm
Peace Statue on the seafront
We will gather to demand:
- An immediate ceasefire
- Immediate access to humanitarian aid (food, water, fuel & medical supplies)
- An end to the siege of Gaza
- An end to the occupation of Palestine
This will be a dignified gathering to express our collective solidarity with all Palestinian people. It will end with 2 minutes of silence. Join us if you can.
