Help us bring four children to the UK from the Gaza Music School to play at a concert in Brighton during the May 2016 Festival

This year, during the annual Brighton Festival in the UK, we launched this crowd-funding appeal to help us cover the costs of bringing over four talented young musicians from the wonderful Music School in Gaza for next year’s Festival.
In the past two years, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to organise concerts in which adult Palestinian musicians played for us during the Brighton Festival.
What we propose for the Festival in 2016 is rather different. Bringing young musicians out of Gaza, and then arranging a major concert in Brighton at which they will play, is a more ambitious and expensive project. This is why we need your help to cover the costs. The children will need to be accompanied by an adult so there are air fares to be found, plus visas, and the costs of the concert itself. Much of the work will be done by ourselves as volunteers and we hope to find accommodation for the children from our own homes but we still need to raise £6,000. This is the minimum we need to cover the basics. If we are lucky enough – with your generosity – to raise more, we will be able to make the concert even better.
UPDATE: We are delighted to report that we achieved our minimum target of £6000 within two weeks of launching our appeal. We have decided to let the appeal continue to run until its scheduled finish on the 8th of July, in the hope we might raise even more money for this very worthwhile project. See the crowdfunding site for more information.
