The Bush Theatre (Shepherd’s Bush Market Tube) http://www.bushtheatre.co.uk/sixtysix/ Sixty Six Books is an epic project to open the Bush Theatre’s new building. 66 writers — including Neil Bartlett, Billy Bragg, Carol Ann Duffy, Suheir Hammad, Jackie Kay, Paul Muldoon, Wole Soyinka and Jeanette Winterson — have each responded to a Book of the King James Bible. The Strange Wife by Naomi Foyle is a verse drama based on The Book of Ezra. Set in contemporary Jerusalem, it casts Ezra as a 100 year old Zionist patriarch forced to confront his grandson Yonatan’s marriage to Mariam, a Palestinian activist.
