This extraordinary fundraising concert will bring together and showcase outstanding young musicians aged from 11 to 19, studying at centres of musical excellence in the UK. You will hear a selection of concertos and chamber music, from Bach to Mendelssohn, Haydn and Vivaldi. Three of the players in this concert are through to the String category finals of this year’s BBC Young Musician Competition.
“I am looking forward to being part of this concert because giving other young musicians from across the world a chance to experience the same opportunities that we do is a wonderful thing.”
Student, Royal Academy of Music
The programme will also include the premiere of Guy Richardson’s piece Houriya (الحرية Freedom), dedicated to the Galilee Quartet.
Brighton and Palestinian Artists Together has invited children from the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music to play in Brighton Fringe, in a concert at St Michael and All Angels Church on the 4th June 2016. Four of the young musicians are students at the Gaza Music School and three of them are students at ESNCM branches in the West Bank.
Our fundraising appeal has raised an astonishing £7,319, surpassing our initial target of £6,000. More is still needed if we are to achieve our aim, so please join us for an evening of music to support this exciting project. Find out more about our fundraising appeal here.
The money raised at the 14th February concert will go directly to paying for the flights and visa costs of the young Palestinian musicians. Without outside help, these talented young people would not have the opportunity to travel and broaden their musical experience.
