Sainsbury’s: Taste the Indifference

Sainsbury’s: Taste the Indifference

Another campaign that our members and supporters were heavily involved with was this one, targeting one of the UK’s largest supermarkets, which ran between 2013 and 2015.

The background

Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are built on stolen Palestinian land – and illegal under international law.

Sainsbury’s uses suppliers that trade in products from illegal Israeli settlements. The supermarket is therefore profiting from Israel’s illegal occupation. The ‘Taste the Indifference’ slogan and logo poke fun at Sainsbury’s long-standing ‘Taste the Difference’ food range – as well as the supermarket’s lukewarm response to our campaign.

Our campaign

As a city with a Sainsbury’s branch on seemingly every street, we had plenty of options to take our message to the public.

We even found an ingenious way to spread the word and simultaneously do our bit to reduce plastic waste in our city.
