Thursday 14th September, 7.30 pm

Abdel Bari Atwan is a well-known journalist and commentator on Middle East affairs. Born in Gaza, he is the editor of the London-based on-line news site Rai al-Youm. He’s the author of many books including Islamic State: Digital Caliphate (2015), and he contributes regularly to UK, US and Middle Eastern papers, including The Guardian and Gulf News. He’s also a frequent guest on radio and TV, including BBC’s Dateline London, and the BBC Overseas Service (though he is very critical of BBC bias). In a recent interview he said ‘The Middle East is on the threshold of changes that could weaken the hegemony of the US if not end it entirely, and tip the balance in favour of the winning axis’. He has also said ’Palestinians tried the “peace process”…now we should go back to square one, which means resistance’.

We are pleased and honoured to be able to welcome Abdel Bari Atwan to Brighton on the 14th of September, and look forward to a stimulating evening. Please circulate information about the event widely.
