And we’re delighted to announce our guest speaker will be Malak Mattar. Malak is a Palestinian from Gaza. She is a painter, illustrator, and author of children’s books, and she will speak on the importance of art as resistance. Malak will be speaking at 4pm.
In these dark times, when Palestinian culture is threatened with total erasure, it is more important than ever for us to come together to celebrate these crucial elements of Palestinian history and identity, and the enduring steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people.
Note: Unfortunately the date of our event clashes with the next national demonstration for Palestine in London. We have been planning our local event for many months, and it was not possible to re-schedule it. We naturally hope for a good turnout on Sept 7, but will also naturally understand people’s decision to join the demo in London.
