Palestine 101– want to know more about what’s happening in Palestine and the history behind it but don’t know where to start? Then this is the talk for you! Alia Al Ghussain has a Masters in Human Rights and specialises in human rights in Palestine, and Dr Michael Kearney is a lecturer in Law who has previously worked for Palestinian human rights organisation Al-Haq.

Film-screening: Tears of Gaza – Tears of Gaza is less a conventional documentary than a record, presented with minimal gloss, of the 2008 to 2009 bombing of Gaza by the Israeli military. Filmed by several Palestinian cameramen both during and after the offensive, this powerful film by director Vibeke Løkkeberg focuses on the impact of the attacks on the civilian population.

What we can do to support Palestine – From Sodasteam being forced to shut its doors in Brighton and move its factory out of an illegal Israeli settlement to protesters successfully turning away an Israeli cargo ship in California, the BDS movement is gaining momentum. Ben White is a journalist who has written for the Guardian, Al Jazeera, and Electronic Intifada, and is the author of ‘Israeli Apartheid: A Beginners Guide’ and ‘Palestinians in Israel: Segregation, Discrimination and Democracy’. He will be talking about why international solidarity is needed and what we can concretely do to support the Palestinians.
