The 11 Days of Protest and Commemoration are brought to you by Brighton & Hove Ceasefire Coalition.

DAY 1 – Fri 3/10: Join us to collectively grieve at a powerful memorial art installation of children’s shoes, symbolising the terrible toll Israel’s genocide has taken on Gaza’s 1m children. You’re welcome to come along throughout the day and lay children’s shoes yourself. 10am-8pm, Jubilee Square, Brighton, BN1 1GE. Note: event has now ended.

DAY 2 – Sat 4/10: Everyone is invited to a mass ‘die-in’, commemorating the 70,000 Palestinians known to have been murdered in Gaza by Israel since October 2023, with countless more still unaccounted for. Please wear black. 12pm, New Road, Brighton, BN1 1FN. Note: event has now ended.

Day 5 – Tues 7/10: Join us for an important and timely Public Meeting: “Zionism and the Roots of Genocide”, featuring writer and founding editor of Liberated Texts, Louis Allday in conversation with Palestinian historian Sabri Jiryis. Jiryis’ book “The Foundations of Zionism” is being reissued with a new chapter on the Gaza genocide. 7pm-9:30pm, Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AF. More information available here. Note: event has now ended.

Day 6 – Weds 8/10: Help break the kill chain: No bombs from Brighton! Please support our Community Day of Action/all-day blockade of the L3Harris Arms Factory. Bring flags. Bring the noise! Let L3Harris know we don’t want merchants of death in our City of Sanctuary. All day event – starts 6:30am (but turn up anytime), Home Farm Road, Brighton, BN1 9HU. Note: event has now ended.

Day 6 – Weds 8/10: The mass murder continues – but justice will eventually come. Join this Palestine Interdisciplinary Dialogues panel discussion “Archiving as Resistance: Fighting Erasure and Creating Accountability for the Genocide” to hear how activists and scholars have been archiving accountability for Israel’s monstrous genocide in Gaza. 4pm-5:30pm, University of Sussex Business School, Room 144, Jubilee Building, Falmer Campus, BN1 9SN. Note: event has now ended.

Day 7 – Thurs 9/10: Full-day (17 hour) public act of remembrance. We’ll be reading aloud the names of every child murdered in Gaza by Israel since October 2023 to Honour the Children, Know Their Names. Each name is a story, a life, a dream taken too soon. This will be both a memorial and a collective act of resistance – a refusal to let their memory be erased. Everyone is welcome to take part, drop by whenever you can to listen, stand in solidarity, or read some names yourself. 7am-12am (midnight), The Clocktower, North Street, Brighton. Note: event has now ended.

Day 8 – Fri 10/10: As new Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Hove and Portslade MP Peter Kyle is responsible for signing off arms exports licenses to Israel. He is now directly implicated in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Show your disgust at his complicity by joining a mass picket of his constituency office. 12pm-1pm, 99 Church Road, Hove, BN3 2BA. Note: event has now ended.

Day 9 – Sat 11/10: People of good conscience from across our city will be travelling up to London this Saturday for the National Demonstration for Palestine. Every national event is important – but as we mark 2 years of genocide in Gaza, it’s vital that a huge contingent of us take part. The march will assemble at Victoria Embankment at 12pm, and end at Downing Street. To travel up as a bloc, meet at 10:30am on the concourse at Brighton Station to catch the 10.44 train to London Blackfriars (arrives 11:51am). We’ll then walk to the starting point. Note: event has now ended.

Day 10 – Sun 12/10: This is the big one! There may be a tentative ceasefire in place in Gaza – and we hope it holds. But now is not the time to pause: we must push for accountability for Israel’s two year Gaza genocide – and for Palestinian liberation!

Brighton & Hove Ceasefire Coalition calls upon the good people of our city (and beyond) to march in their thousands to mark 2 years of genocide.

We’ll be marching to:

  • Demand Israel and its enablers (including our government) are finally held to account for their actions
  • Dismantle Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid
  • Call for the Palestinian right of return and self-determination.

Individuals and groups are all welcome to join us in solidarity – bring your group’s banner if you have one!

Tell everyone you know. Let’s make this MASSIVE! Assemble from 12pm at The Level, Brighton. Note: event has now ended.

Day 11 – Mon 13/10: We’ll be holding a rally outside a full meeting of Brighton & Hove City Council, as they debate a motion on divestment. Please come down, and show the council the strength of feeling in the city that our money should NEVER be invested with companies complicit in Israel’s illegal and belligerent occupation, apartheid and now genocide! From 3:30pm, outside Hove Town Hall, BN3 3BQ. Note: event has now ended.
